Class Descriptions

Basics

arms-upLearn body & breath awareness, basic alignment & postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and an introduction to meditation and yoga philosophy. A good place for beginners, and for anyone wanting to review the fundamentals or slow down.

Gentle

A good class for beginners or continuing students who like a gentle approach. We offer extra warmups and plenty of room to modify or make adjustments. Also appropriate as a pre-natal class.

Moderate

Assumes you know the basics. Kripalu Yoga always uses a sequence of warmups to prepare you, and our moderate classes include more varied and challenging postures and flows.

Gentle/Moderate

This blended class assumes you know some basics, and will lean to the Gentle side of Moderate. You are encouraged to move at the pace that works best for you, slowing down or challenging yourself more as needed.

Gentle/Restore

We start with gentle movement and then move into restorative yoga. This style of yoga is meant to complement all other more active practices and lifestyles by triggering the parasympathetic nervous system, creating deep balance in the body. All levels welcome.

Yin

Hold postures gently for 3 to 5 minutes while focusing on your breath and inner landscape. Long held poses affect the deeper connective tissues of your body, while stimulating and balancing the energy that flows through the entire meridian system.  You’ll conclude each class with a brief yang or active practice.

Embodiment

This class emphasizes the subtle practices of yoga which support the awakening process.  The foundation of this exploration is the embodiment and integration of the subtle energy body with the physical body. The class is full and closed to new students for now.
